First off, John, don't save anything on the KeySoft System Disk because, if you
need to ever do a hard Reset (a Reset with [dots 4-5-6], [S-D-F keys] held
down), this clears out all except factory-installed files on the KS Disk.
That's why, when you did that hard Reset, you lost your book. Second, about
your problem, I've seen this message quite often when handling any type of
Microsoft Word document in a Word format later than Word '97. If this is
something like a Word XP file, and if you have it on your PC, try saving it as
something like Word '97 before transferring it onto the BN, and see if you have
less trouble. MS Word support should supposedly improve in the upgrade,
according to PDI. If you are able to open that file on the BN, save it as
something like an RTF type (hit [SPACE with S], [CONTROL with S], select a
location as you would at any "File Name?" prompt in KeySoft, and, at the "File
Name?" prompt, hit [BACKSPACE with X], [CONTROL with X] until you are prompted
to create a Rich Text Format type file, then enter a file name, and hit ENTER
to save), erase that file which is giving you trouble, and then work with the
RTF file, with which you should have less trouble. The MS Word (later than
'97) format is the only one I've had that trouble with, but even if your book
isn't an MS Word, try saving it as another type on the BN if you do get it to
open or, if it's on your PC, save it as another format before transferring onto
the BN. Once you get the file in a more workable format, you'll probably want
to erase the previous file which was causing you difficulties. Try doing
another hard Reset, and see if you can open the file from your BN, at which
point you can try saving it as another type (unless it's on your KS Disk, in
which case you'd have to reload it back into your device (do so on the Flash
Disk or a CF card), and try doing it in something like RTF or ASCII Text).

HTH,
Maria
