Hello Ben:
I live the CompactFlash Card in my BrailleNote permanently. I have NOT SEEN
any degradations in performance thus far.
Occasionally, though, I get the message from Keysoft about the need to
REFORMAT my CF and that all contents will be lost. In those circumstances,
I simply PULL OUT THE CF, do a reset and everything is back on track.
It is my understanding that some CompactFlash Cards DRAW A GOOD DEAL OF
POWER from the BrailleNote battery if not removed. I use the Simpletech
CompactFlash Card, which, as I understand things, DRAW LESS POWER!
In any case, I personally prefer LEAVING THE COMPACTFLASH CARD in the
BrailleNote; in that way, I don't have to KEEP SCROUNGING for it when I need
to find it. I have so many books to read, and I am always reading at
various odd hours of the day--sometimes around 3:00 a.m. Since I am a
Braile reader, I don't have to DISTURB ANYONE in our home as I scrounge all
over the place trying to remember where I kept the CF.
Milestones of course do vary; I say try leaving the CF in your BrailleNote;
if you notice any major problems or degradations, then, keep the card safe
where you can find it from time to time. The BrailleNote carrying case
might be a good place, but I have mine LOADED WITH ALL SORTS OF DOCUMENTS
that I use daily, so that won't work for me.
Hope the foregoing is helpful!!
Sincerely,
Olusegun
