I don't know what to tell you about why this happens, but all I can say is that
every piece of computer technology I have ever seen, from my Apple 2E and
VersaPoint embosser, to my own BrailleNote and my PC, has crashed or lost data
or just acted plain weird, for some unknown reason. I have long since ceased
asking "why", whenever the question is computer-related. I have heard a lot of
people through the years say, "This should never happen!", and they're right,
it shouldn't, but that doesn't change the fact that it does happen.
When the Braille display decides to stop working, it could be anything. I'm
sure PDI has some idea of why it happens, but I don't think we did anything to
cause the problem, and I don't think we can do anything to fix such problems
when they arise. It's just one of those things.

Subject: [Braillenote] good news sort of

Hi Listers,
Well the good news is my service contract is still good until November so I
will only have to pay for shipping and insurance. And the cost to renew the
contract isn't as much as I thought it would be. I am curious to know how the
Braille display can suddenly stop functioning without any warning. We don't
have any lottery here in Guam no gambling casinos either. I feel a little
better but am still quite distressed by this turn of events. I am glad that my
files didn't crash and that this happened at the start of the school year
instead of at the end of it.

Thank you for the sympathy and the good wishes.
Lisa
