Hi Susan;
I wish they would change it to erase. The reason some of us are not sure
about formatting is because in the dos days we had to format disks. If it
does not need to be done, why does such an error message even come up. It
just makes for more comfusion. I am sure lucky I learned before I lost a cf
card.

Penny, when it asks if you want to format, always say no. I did reformat
a flash card using my card reader and the PC--once--and you have to be
careful which kind of formatting you use, as there are two choices. I
suppose in a sense it does seem odd that the BrailleNote would offer to
do something for you that is totally destructive. The proper term ought
to be "erase"--as in, "do you want to erase this drive?" We'd all know
to shout "NO" then.

Thank you for the input, Jeff. I have heard that if you format a card
using the BN32 you can't use it. Sounds fishy to me. Of course, I have
heeded this warning and have not formatted cards. but why would the BN
allow one to do something that then renders the peripheral device
useless? Best, Penny
