Hello Stacey. In the current KeySoft, you can configure the unit to leave
mail on the server, to delete mail from the server if it is in the unit's
trash folder, or to delete the email from the server after downloading,
regardless of whether it is in the trash folder or not. According to the
releases by PulseData in early July about the pending upgrades to KeySoft,
the email application has been rewritten for greater performance and
functionality, so I imagine that these configuration options will remain
available, but it is impossible to say that for sure. Off-the-shelf
Microsoft-based PDA's, which use Pocket Outlook as their communications
software, do not automatically delete email from the server as it
downloads them, but rather deletes it from the server if it is deleted
from the machine. Were Pulsedata interested in having the behavior of
their products be consistent with other Microsoft-based PDA's in use
today, it is conceivable that they'd change the functionality of their
rewritten email interface to behave such that emails are deleted from the
server only if they're deleted from the machine. I believe that you
indicated that your purchase was likely to be a ways off, so your best bet
for an answer to this question might be to watch this list for reaction
once folks start getting their hands on the new KeySoft release and the
BrailleNote PK.
