A little more clarification might be in order. The reason a person might think "none" is a folder is because of the wording the BN uses. When you go to open a file, you see "folder name? none" when no folder has yet been chosen. For this reason, someone might call it the "none" folder, even though "none" is *not* an actual folder. It's not just the terminology, it's also knowing how these little computer beasties think and what they mean.

Hi all, Just a matter of clarification, please. 'none' is *not* a folder, it is the root of the disk. It is the main portion of that disk, floppy, CD, flashcard or whatever. It is *not* a folder. A folder is a portion of a disk which has been marked off for containing files. The 'none' designation means that it refers to disk space over all, and that the files which are in 'none' are not stored in folders. Sorry for being picky, but it is important to understand what's going on here. Especially in computer related matters, it is important to understand and use the correct terminology. To make the analogy simpler, if you have a box and you put three manilla folders in the box labeled stories, poems and songs, you have a box with three folders in it, one contains stories, one poems and one songs. Now suppose that somebody at church gives you a copy of "In The Garden" on your way out the door. When you arrive home you've got to get dinner and you've got to take the dog out and all. So, you drop your Octavo into the box with your folders. The sheet music you dropped into the box is, in a sense, like a file that is in 'none'. It's in the box, on the disk if you will, but it isn't in the folder labeled 'songs'. Hope this clarifies. Ann P. -- Ann K.
