You may want to try doing a reset without holding down any keys. Just use a pointed object to press the reset botton on the left side of the BN. Wait few seconds. It will beep, and the main menu will display. Then turn off the power and turn it back on again.
I was recently having trouble connecting with Active Sync. I had borrowed a compact Flash card and all of the adapters and reader I needed to transfer files from the PC to the BN. But the BN would not recognize the flash card. After performing a reset, the BN recognized the flash card, and I was also able to connect using Active Sync.
