Hi,

You actually had it set correctly and should be [EMAIL PROTECTED] in the
service name field and if her email mailbox uses that same name, it should also
be
in the email name. Be sure to include the entire address, that is, [EMAIL
PROTECTED] in both places. Also don't forget the password. You do have the
servers set correctly. Be sure to set authentication to yes in the braillenote
directory of services. Did you put in dns addresses? If so, take them out as
they're not needed with earthlink.

Also set log onto network to no.

Actually, unless earthlink has changed something I don't know about, you really
don't need authentication if you're accessing earthlink via dialup. In looking
at my own directory of services entry, I have authentication set to no and am
just using the smtp server of smtp.earthlink.net.

I assume you mean here that you're connecting to the phone line via the
internal modem of the bn.

I've done this successfully at different times, so please feel free to write
privately if none of this works and you think I might be able to help further.

Hi I'm helping a friend here with her braille note.
We configured the pop server address to pop.earthlink.net, and the smtp address
to smtpauth.earthlink.net, as was instructed by earthlink to configure it
that way, and still no go, we also additionally put in her service user name as
[EMAIL PROTECTED], and email user name being the same thing and still no
go, now, it disconnects her from the net when she tries getting on so we
alternatively changed it back to just the service user name, as being just a
plain
user name and the email user name being [EMAIL PROTECTED]
And even though, I realize it was for sending, I instructed her to enable smtp
authentication, just to see what would happen but still no go.
Any help with this would be appreciated, as I know that earthlink is useable
with the braille note.
And also, btw, she can send using the email server, but not receive.
Thank you
