Hi, Carl. are you sure the keys match? I initially didn't have my router encrypted, but over the past month, I did and can connect without any problems. I would think that the key might be an upper case or lower case thing. What if you set the router back to defaults and then set up the wep key again? That is pretty sad that the packmate could connect and we could not? At 4/28/2005, you wrote:

Hello Folks,

I have been working with a BN with version 6.11 installed. Using the
correct Ambicom wireless card I can usually get connected to my open
wireless network but have had no luck connecting with an encrypted network.

Our services for the blind in Utah has a class in note takers. The teacher
has taught everything from the Millennium to the Braille Note to the Pac
Mate. He uses an encrypted wireless network to access the Internet with the
Pac Mate and would like to do the same with the Braille Note. He has, in
fact, waited anxiously for the new update so he could do so.

Over the past several weeks I have been to his classroom and we have had
people from Humanware out to the classroom trying to get the connection to
work. So far it hasn't. When the Humanware folks were out they
disconnected his encrypted router and connected an unencrypted one. We were
able to connect with this one but as soon as we reconnected the encrypted
router, entered the wep key etc. no luck.

Much to the chagrin of the Humanware folks the instructor fired up a Pac
Mate to test the network to see if it was actually working and it came up
immediately.

A week or so later I came over and tried again. After being on hold for
tech support at Humanware for a solid hour I gave up. My question is has
anyone out there successfully connected to an encrypted wireless network and
if so can you give any pointers on how you did it? I would be happy to
schedule a time to be in the classroom and call you to help me work through
this. This is an important issue which we need to solve if we can. Any
help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Karl
