Hi Mike. There are two main ways you can transfer files to and from your
BrailleNote. One is to use a program called ActiveSync; there is
probably a version on the CD that came with your machine. Or, you can
download it to your PC at www.microsoft.com. When you have established a
connection between your PC and the BN (which will be called "mobile
device), the BN will show up as a drive in Windows Explorer and you can
copy and move files around however you want. Check the user's guide of
your BrailleNote for ActiveSync topics.

The other way, which to my mind is easier, is to spend a little money
and buy yourself a compact flash card and a compact flash card
reader/writer. The card is a little square device that fits in the back
slot of your BrailleNote and shows up on the drive list as
"compactflash." The reader/writer is a small device that plugs into the
PC's USB port; when it's installed, it shows up as "removable disk
(probably Drive E)" in WMy Computer or Windows Explorer, and you can
move files around as you will. I bought a 128 MB flash card at CompUSA
for $30, and the little reader/writer device at www.memorysuppliers.com,
for $15. File management is quick and easy this way. ActiveSync seems to
be temperamental on some systems; some people have no trouble using it
and then there are some others...

Hope this helps.

Subject: [Braillenote] transfering files

Hello fellow braillenote users, My name is Mike, and I'm pleased to
announce, that I am now a prowd owner of a braillenote bt. Being that
this is my first
electronic braille device, I'm still in the process of learning about
it. I'd
like to know, how to transfer files from my braillenote to my pc, and
vice
versa. For example, if I have a keyword braille document saved in the
braillenote, and I wanted to transfer it to the computer, or if I had a
microsoft word
document on the pc, and I wanted to transfer it to the braillenote, how
would I
go about doing this? Note: my computer does not have infrared
capabilities so
when I do transfer files back and forth, I'll be using the serial cable.
