Sarah and List,

It is indeed possible to type the first letter of a file one wishes to
go to in the file list. However, the difference to what you would do on
the pc, is that on the bn you must not type it at the file name promt.
First space down till you get to the file list prompt where it says:
"list of files in x folder," then enter the first letter. Depending on
how many files there are in your folder, it will take some seconds
before you will year the file name you were looking for and minutes if
there are more than 150 files in that folder. It definitely works. I
use it every day.

That's one of those weird things about the BN/VN. Unlike windows, you
can't choose a file by typing the first few letters of it's name while
in the list of files. It is definitely frustrating and I wonder if it
will ever be fixed. In some cases I have found it easier and less
complicated to just type the file name in the edit box rather than
choosing it from the list.

Hi Rhonda, I tried typing in clar and as I said I got four error beeps
and
was given the next clancy item, I don't know why it doesn't work with 4
characters. Thanks for the mass unprotect info, that is definitely
handy.
