When not in use, the BN/VN has a go-to-sleep mode. I'm surprised to hear about the reset issue, because the first time I saw that was when I installed 6.1 for someone. In the manual, it says you shouldn't need to calibrate the battery any more than about three months. When the BN wasn't charging, what kind of temperature was it stored in? That could make a difference.
