Hi Stacey:

I'm sorry... I had written a message that responded to this yesterday, but,
alas, forgot about the ridiculous feature in keymail. Thus, the message was
sent from my other address (which is not subscribed to this list), and
therefore my message bounced.

First and foremost, the argument about the BN being a PDA is even more
irrelevant in this topic than it is in other innumerable threads on this
list. There is nothing wrong with Stacey asking if her machine can perform a
specific function.

Stacey, like you, I edit out all page numbers from Web Braille. Though the
method Bob suggested is semi-valid, it has it's problems. For instance, if
you have a book with dates in it, replacing the number sign followed by one
would edit all of those occurances as well. Number sign followed by a four
would edit out all words which end in a bled. So, this is my method of
editing out numbers. It's still time consuming, but its the easiest and
fastest that I could come up with.

>From the top of the document, enter the find menu by pressing space with f
(read with f). In the "find" field, type the number sign (dots 3,4,5,6)
followed by dot 1 for the number 1. Press enter. You will, most likely, be
taken to the page number one. After editing out the number and the
surrounding spaces, instead of going into the find menu again, simply use
the "find next occurance" command by pressing space with n (read with n).
This way, you will quickly be taken to page 11, 13, 15, 17, 19 and, if the
volume has over a hundred pages, to all of them as well. Go back to the top
of the document and repeat the procedure with numbers 2 through 9. As I've
said, it's far from quick, but it's definitely quicker than typing in each
number, and you still get the luxury of previewing whatever you're editing
out, which the "replace all" command does not allow for.

HTH, Laura

Subject: [Braillenote] Page numbers in web Braille

> Hi, can someone tell me if there's an easy way to strip apge numbers out
of web Braille books with the VNQT? I usually just search for them one by
one, but I'm wondering if there is a way that I can use the find and replace
feature to find them all and replace them with a cleared field.
