Cool! My husband just started his Master's degree program with University of Phoenix Online last week, he will be taking all his classes using the computer. He is considered legally blind, but just on the edge, however, I put Jaws on his computer and he says it makes reading his class newsgroups much faster.
To keep this Braille Note related, I scanned one of his books, then loaded it on my BN 18 for him so he can read it when he has time at work. He does not know braille at all, and my BNs both have braille keyboards but I have been able to show him enough to be able to use the unit with speech for reading. I suggested he might want a Voice Note, but he says since I now have the BN 32 and the 18 he can learn what it takes to use the 18 unit when needed, mostly for finding files and continuous reading. Me! Well, I wish I could find a new learning opportunity in some sort of program, but, my skills in mathematics are so terrible that it would have to be something that did not require me to do anything more than the most basic functions. My BN calculator has way more functions than I have a clue what to do with. As some of you may already know, I am a life coach for women over fifty. For the past month or so, I have felt a deep academic restlessness to return to school, but until this afternoon, mild and purposeless dithering is the only active thing I've done. About three o'clock, I read an email announcement for a two-week workshop which deals with various issues related to coaching as a small and independent business. All classes are conducted over a bridge line via telephone. Because I purchased the premier package, I will also receive the entire course and all books and related text materials on CD. I successfully registered in less than five minutes, and I can attend the whole learning experience in my PJ's if so inclined. Isn't access technology absolutely amazing and wonderful for establishing, enjoying, and living interdependently?
