press function with x.
you will hear: unicode character?
type U diaeresis.
or just type u dia and press enter, you will hear:
cap u diaeresis.
press read with N, you will hear u diaeresis...
press enter.
the character is inserted into the file...

To assign a macro press function with x at any point in keysoft.
type u dia and press enter.
press read with N to get to the normal u diaeresis.
Press control with K you will hear... U diaeresis is unassigned. option? press A to assign. you should hear, press a key combination to assign a diaeresis to? you can at this point enter any combination. example: I use ]u as my u umlaut character macro. then press enter and press y to confirm the asignation of the key.
to confirm the key assignment. ...
Do this to assign macros to any character in the table. There is a limit in KeySoft 5.1 as to how many macros can be assigned but I don't remember what this limit is. This may change in KeySoft 6.1.
