Hi,

Thanks for that - all very useful but here's my problem, perhaps I didn't
explain it clearly enough.

While connected to my LAN via wireless connection, I went to File Manager
and selected Directory. I browsed to Network and selected to browse the
entire network. I was prompted for a user name and password for my XP
desktop machine, which I supplied and could happily browse down to the
Shared Documents folder on my XP desktop machine. I was also asked by PK to
provide a name in computer braille, which I entered test, since that was
what I was doing! Now, every time I browse the entire network, I get asked
to enter a network place, PK is offering me a network place called test, and
I wish to remove it! Where is it stored and how can I get rid of it please?
I'm not too familiar with Win CE so any tip would be most helpful and you
clearly know the system quite well!

Cheers.

Paul.

Hi Paul,

It sounds to me like your PC has changed IP address since you first
connected to it on your network. You can either search the network again
by sending out a network broadcast for the machine's response with a new
IP address and keep doing this habitually, or else fix the PC's IP address
so that future establishments with an existing IP address will not result
in connection errors on your PK. How you fix your PC's IP address depends
on your general proficiency with networks, but normally your router has
the ability to set aside a specific IP address for a given MAC address so
that the DHCP service on your router (if it exists) makes the same offer
each time that client connects, and you should therefore pick an IP in
your subnet's range and/or within or outside of your DHCP's IP pool and
affix it to your PC for good via its MAC. This also helps the BrailleNote
when you use ActiveSync, since the BrailleNote depends upon WINS for
NetBIOS name resolution and this must always be available on the host you
are connecting to if a WINS server does not exist elsewhere on your LAN.

Cheers,
Sabahattin
