Trust me, the dot is probably there, it's just that for whatever reason, it's not firing. I was able to clean a Braille display by using alcohol, in tiny amounts, and afterward a bit of canned air. However, this is something one must do quite carefully. And, to be fair, it might not fix the problem. Normally, when a dot does not appear when it should, or appears when it should not, repair is necessary.

It hasn't even back with me for 6 weeks yet. The dot 5 in cell 3 on the display is not working. Interesting it worked like less than 4 hours ago. I exercised the Braille display of like 20 minutes and nothing. I cleaned the Braille display with a warm damp washcloth nothing. Maybe third time is the charm to fix the BN? Does anyone have any ideas? I don't want to send it in for repair but I do use my BN as a teaching tool and somehow not having all six dots in a cell seems like a cruel trick for Braille readers. I wish there was some way users could buy replacement cells and insert them themselves. I know there has been an article on the Internet for some time by a company that is trying to produce a full one-page Braille display. The article discusses this issue and offers solutions because this company's Braille display wasn't made from the pins. I always wish that companz would get their display on the market. If anyone is interested in reading the article the link is www.wyfiwyg.com I think the article is under a link called White Paper Tactile Dynamics. Does the new PK Braille display have a way that the user could replace the Braille cells independently? I have not dropped my unit or spilled anything on it or eaten around it. First it loses imqrtant information in a file, impotant, then it loses a dot, I shudder to think what it will lose next. I'm also worried that if I send my BN in for repair they fix it and send it back how will I know when it comes back that all the dots are working? One of the dots on another cell might get ruined in transit. I hate gambling. Especially with a machine that costs so much money. Has anyone else had to send ;the unit in 3 times within a matter of less than three months? We have discussed on this list the idea of replacing units after they have been repaired so many times. I don't know that I would want that option but I would like something. Good thing I'm going to the post office tomorrow. Does anyone have any ideas on how to find the missing dot? Thanks!
