I haven't received any email from earthlink about it, but I go on the site
everyday to check my spam blocker folder. When I was on the log on page for
web mail, there was a messages saying that security incription was going to
be upgraded and people using older browsers might not be able to access web
mail any more. I didn't pay anymore attention, since I use IE 6.

Subject: [Braillenote] earthlink settings

Hi Everyone,
Okay regarding these new Earthlink settings.
I have not received the email about these new settings. I called Earthlink
Tech support at
1-888Earthlink and got a recording about the email regarding updating the
settings was ligate. When I talked to a tech support engineer she was
completely clueless about any settings that needed to be updated. I
explained that I knew people who were receiving emails from Earthlink
regarding updating settings and also mentioned the recording. The tech
engineer I spoke with talked to her supervisor and said that her supervisor
would see about getting the recording changed at headquarters. This is very
discerting to me as an Earthlink customer. Is Earthlink wrong here by
sending out these emails or what is going on? I have not had any problems
checking my email but this just really concerned me. Especially since I'm
going to try and receive my Earthlink emails from my mother's email account.
I guess I'm sending this out as an awareness. If Earthlink sends out
anything informing people to update any settings call that toll-free number
1-888-Earthlink and report it immediately. I got the impression if that
tech support engineers didn't have the information regarding setting updates
then the emails and the recording telling people to update their settings
were false.
This is really my only gripe about EARTHLINK so far. I'm just glad I didn't
receive an email from Earthlink and called tech support. I just hope the
lady I spoke with at tech support knew what she was talking about. I would
guess so since she verified the information with her supervisor.
It makes me wonder who at Earthlink is sending out these emails and why the
recording was changed to make those emails seem ligate. I just wonder why
Earthlink would send out emails and change their recording if this
information was false.
So I don't know if people should change their settings or not. Change at
your own risk I guess. Good luck.
Lisa
