Hi, Terry. You don't need to buy a new board to run the 6.1 upgrade. Of course, many of us will upgrade to 6.01 with our current boards then wait for a new board. I think a new board is inevitable, but only PDI knows when it will come out. Until then, we who upgrade will just use what we have.
I am looking forward to a new board for the speed increase if nothing else.
I would like to be able to load larger files faster.

Does anyone know how soon the new board is coming out, in 2005 or later. If
2005, what is the point of getting the 6.1 update if we are going to have to
turn around and buy the new board?

I really don't think this will raise the price of the bn if these features
are added. I don't really know where people get this idea. I suppose there
might be a little less of a profit margin, but the market will keep these
units from different manufacturers close in price. If the price of the bn
gets too high because of these innovations, people will just buy the
cheaper packmate or perhaps the one from alva or whatever is out there at
the time.
I don't particularly care if the unit plays in stereo, but there are those
who do. If a new board should come out, and I think this is almost a
certainty, you can decide to upgrade or not just like with the last board.
There are those on this list who haven't even upgraded to keysoft 5.1. It
is like I tell people all of the time. If what you are using works for you
and you are happy with it, don't upgrade.
