I leave my flash card in the side slot but don't have it fully engaged. I push the button so it isn't set solidly, and it stays in. I've heard of a couple of cases where the BN tries to format the storage or CF cards. Keeping it in the slot but not tight means this most probably won't happen. Just a thought! God bless! I would recommend that when you carry it that you carry it in the case for maximum protection. Now if this were I, I'd use the side and a card adapter to be sure to protect the back of the unit. those cards gan get loose in there and that would worry me.
