Hello Laura and list, This is an excellent email, which by the way, I have pasted below my signature for others to read. While I am not in a position at this time to comment on any of your comments in specific terms, I can and will say that at this time, we are capturing suggestions for the next SMA and these will be reviewed at a later date at which time, it will be determined what suggestions make it into that Keysoft release.
Therefore, you and other list members should send any suggestions you may have to us, though I think that it might be better to take this off the list due to the traffic that this has the potential to generate. You can be sure that every suggestion that is technically possible to implement and that would make KeySoft more user friendly or that would increase the power of KeySoft in terms of functionality is logged and captured in our database, even though BrailleNote users may not always see immediate results or messages might go unacknowledged for a period of time. Sometimes, it is all we can do to let people know in general messages such as this one, that we're still on the job as it were, as it is simply impossible to always give people any specifics on when their suggestions might be implemented, what form they may take or other appropriate information. If you have any further queries, please don't hesitate ton Regards, Dean Jackson Customer/Technical Analyst Pulse Data International Ltd. DDI: +64 3 373 6184 Fax: +64-3-384 4933 Email: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Internet: www.pulsedata.com You know, while we're all dreaming and scheming for great new ideas for the bn, I thought I'd do a quick rehash of how much more important it is to fix what we have before plowing on into new realms. So, on that note, here is my wish list for the bn. 1. I would like, in the spellchecker, to have the ability to correct a word using the suggestions list properly. An explanation: if I have the word "to recognize" but I spell it "to rekognize", if I use the suggestion list to correct the misspelling, the word "to" formed by the contraction 2-3-5, will not be appended in that word, so I will have to go find that word later and reinsert the word to. 2. Speaking of that word, I would like for my downloaded keymail messages to be translated properly. By that, I mean that the word "to" is not translated into its contracted form, and the two individual letters are instead just tacked onto the word beside it. (I'm sure you're all familiar with what I'm speaking of). 3. On the keymail tangent, I would like for those ghost email to disappear (I notice that I never got any recognition by that message from PDI staff, unless I somehow missed it), the ability to switch between a message in progress and any other task without the message disappearing into oblivion, the ability to enter computer Braille into my email message without having to follow specific rules and regulations... and go inn and on down the list of annoying little keymail quirks. 5. I would like for the word count and the spellchecker to agree when it comes to words joined by a hyphen. For instance, the example is "see--it". The word count will recognize this as one word, and the spellchecker will see it as two. (it's quite possible I've mixed this up, but the principle behind it is still true). 6. If possible, the annoying habit of the bn reading the contracted word "his" when capitalized as a question mark and, hence, not speaking or proceeding with the sentence, should be fixed. 7. I would like the "scientific" calculator to actually earn the title of "scientific", or, alternatively, be changed to "elementary function" calculator. More intense functions should be incorporated, conversions should be there, etc. Alternatively, I would like all of the above documented properly, instead of haphazardly or not at all, in the keysoft manual. Informed users are careful users, and a lot of the problems on this list would surely disappear if these things were only incorporated into the manual. Therefore, I would also like to add that all of the undocumented commands (which I have a list of should anyone want them, from Roselle) be placed into the manual somewhere. Happy wishing to one and all, Laura
