Why won't these files open? Is it that they have tables or pictures in them? Could this be a limitation again of Windows CE 4.2?

I agree.
The idea of converting to RTF is fine if you have access to a PC.
Often I am on the road and receive Word 2003 files which I cannot read.
To make things worse if I then bounce them at another E-Mail account to
convert later assuming I have the turnaround time of the document provides a
sufficient timescale to do it when I then open the file on the PC often in
will not open correctly (as also discussed on the list).
So I patiently await the solution to this in hopefully the next release of
the PK software.

Thanks for the information about saving on a pc. I feel real bad for people
that have no knowledge, or don't own a pc. The VN/BN is all many people
have. They can't convert documents any other way. I can't help but wonder
what people like that do?

Hi, when I had this problem, Dean suggested I transfer the document to
my pc, which as I have a plug and play card reader connected by way of
USB port on my pc, I saved the word document to a flash card, put the
flash card in the pc's card reader, opened the document on my pc and
converted the file to a .txt file - ie when the microsoft word file is
opened on the pc, go to save as, cursor to where it says plain text
file and save. If there are any pictures or non-text in the document
you will be warned that these will be lost and you just have to tab
over to ok and press enter. After retransfering back to the BN or PK, you
should be able to read the file.
Other than this method, I don't think 6x is yet able to cope directly
with this sort of problem, and whilst I believe it has been noted for
inclusion in a future release of Keysoft, how big a priority this is, I do
not know.

Cheers, Steve,

Just curious... has anyone had a problem with files created in word
2000 or 2003 not being readily accessible by Keysoft 6?
There is a word document that is 56 pages long and it is in word 2003
format. We are wanting to get it on the PK. We saved it on the
compact flash card, but when we tried to open it on the PK, it told
us that it was not a valid word 6 or 97 document. When I hit the
backspace to escape from that error message, it started a conversion
process about 30 minutes ago; it is still going on.

Thanks in advance for any help anyone can provide

Renee
