It almost sent me into a panic because it is about time for me to charge the
unit. I have no idea how long it has on so while waiting for an answer,
which was not long, I put the ac adapter on for safety. My address book
seams fine and that is the most important thing I have yet.
Bye for now.
Terry

Terry, I'm surprised this happened to you in transit, so to speak,
because while I've had other devices apparently turn themselves on and
off in book bags, BrailleNote is noteworthy because it doesn't. But in
your case it must have. Was it in its case? Somehow the power switch
must have got bumped.

I think its either enter while turning it on or backspace while turning
it
on. I did the same thing a long time ago.

Ann and List,

Well, I have just discovered something that places this whole issue in a
slightly different light, (please pardon the pun).

I had a sighted person look at my flash card and case. Yes, the Braille
label is incorrect. Guess what? So is the print label on the card!
They match, both saying 6.1.

So, Ann, you can lay your fears of a Communist Humanware to rest. They
played no dirty trick on us poor down-trodden blind folks, at least the
sighted got the same dirty trick played on them. Once again, a mountain
was made out of a mole hill, albeit a very unfortunate and preventable
mole hill.

Folks, I hope this whole thing serves as a strong reminder to all of us
to check out everything and be certain of *ALL* the facts before flaming
people and jumping to conclusions.

May all of us have a Happy Wednesday!

Sarah

Hi all,

Sarah Cranston writes:

misunderstanding, which I hope will be cleared up soon.

I'm sure that Humanware staff did not intentionally violate Lisa E.'s
rights, Sarah, but she does have the right to expect that Braille labels
on her materials be accurate because this is the *only* medium which she
can read. She *does* have the right to expect that her medium of choice
be as accurate as the print! That, I feel is her right, yes indeed.
Lisa E. and the rest of us have the right to accurate, timely,
information including proper signage on card cases!

Again, if this had been an error in print, you'd be hearing about it all
over the net! When are we going to stand up and demand that we get the
same treatment as the dominant culture!?

Yes, I'm sure it's a misunderstanding, and yes, I'm sure that it wasn't
deliberate. But unless we force vendors of specialized equipment,
agencies for the blind and our own consumer organizations to stop giving
us badly formatted braille, inaccurate braille, braille that doesn't
follow the print exactly, braille that is non-existant unless asked for,
and so on, we're going to remain as down trodden as we still are!
Disinformation is what kept Russia in Communism for over fifty years!

Ann P.

P.S., Lisa E. doesn't have a PC on which she can place a card in a card
reader. Therefore, she had no way to check her information, guys!

A.P.
