ah.
it sounds like you're probably using some newer version of skype
that no longer supports centos 3.x.  when i tested skype i used
skype_staticQT-1.2.0.18.  i know some other people have used more
recent versions, but i don't have any details, you might try
searching previous posts on this alias.
