I noted libmapmalloc usage myself but was confused by using everywhere alloca() instead of malloc() :) However now it is clear for me. I'm pretty sure that messing with the heap of branded application doesn't bode well. However I can't imagine a situation where a well-written application would suffer from it. Probably you could give some examples of scenarios that may occur in such case? (I'm asking this just out of an academic interest) And thanks for the notice about %gs.
