Leaving it has power consumption issues but that isn't my biggest concern.

I used to leave it on overnight so it would be hot and stable to pull shots 
in the morning. One time, I think the pressure built up too high which 
triggered the pressure release valve. This caused steam to escape into the 
unit which in turn melted a plastic water line. Since my machine is plumbed 
in, that meant water leakage for many hours during the night. The damage 
was significant, the least of which was the machine. My countertop was 
ruined as was the cabinet and my cork flooring. I had an extensive 
insurance claim for all the damage. 

Now that the repairs are finally all done, I'm nervous leaving the machine 
on either overnight or if I'm not around.
