Sonja, these are for sale in most supermarkets now in little snack packs (used to be only at the Schiphol one) and are actually made in Spain. They consist of two almost black thin round bisquits with a white sugar-icing filling, you can break them apart and lick off the filling first. In North America they sell them in those big resealable cookie bags and also have "double filling" and "chocolate filling" and "double chocolate filling" varieties. Oreo refers to the really dark chocolate bisquit type cookie, which is also crumbled up and is actually even sold as crumbs (in huge vats) for use in cakes and icecream etc. And because of this famous cookie, oreo has also been known to describe a person "black on the outside but white on the inside". I believe it's an insult, so no offence anyone.
