I had just got back from a late Christmas Eve service. (Sammy had been
put to bed before I even left for it. Not everyone went. Just as well,
it would have taken 2 cars to do it, and I don't think that anyone
*really* felt like driving, but my sister's boyfriend, who is with us
this holiday, volunteered.)
I finished all my wrapping before our dinner guests arrived. There's a
family in Round Rock that lived near Dallas when Dan was in 5th grade or
so, and Dan's family and that family have been friends since. We had 6
of them (mother, father, 3 sons, one daughter-in-law, and I hadn't
actually met her before, and she is pretty nice) over for dinner, and
with 7 adults here this week, that made for quite a lot of people; we
had steak, shrimp, scalloped potatoes, broccoli, Cesar salad, corn on
the cob and homemade Swedish molasses bread, and there were enough
leftovers that we'll be able to make something with them tomorrow
night. So we had a lovely evening. If everyone had a Christmas Eve
evening half as pleasant as ours, we're all lucky people. :)
It's a bit late to wish John a good drive, but I would have if I'd known
to. :)
