Interesting. Europe has a VERY strong judicial branch which has proved extremely resistant so far to government browbeating. The way, in particular, it's wielded the Human Rights Act has been..interesting. While it might produce some odd caselaw, I'm VERY much in favour of a strong independent judicary, even at the cost of weakening other branches of government.
