Haven't seen it, so I can't comment. But no one denies that the Hussein government employs a level of brutality and terror like only a few regimes in history - Pol Pot's Cambodia and Stalin's USSR among a handful of others. There is no disputing that by any save the most pathetic apologists for tyrants - the people who founded ANSWER and run the "protests" against the war effort, most notably. So, I mean, so what? If particular details are or are not true, I have no idea - but we all know what is going on in that country, and that what the British describe is really happening. I do wonder about one thing. 10 years from now, when Iraq is, if not a democracy, at least not under Hussein, and the full details of the horrors he has inflicted on the people of that country come out - will we look at the people who defended him (and they do exist - Ramsey Clark, are you out there?) the way we look at Nazi sympathisers now? We _should_, but I wonder if it will be forgotten, as all the people who apologized for the old Soviet Union have been absolved of what they did. In particular, I wonder how this will influence our view of Germany. If there is any country that should be most enthusiastic for freeing people from a genocidal dictator, it is Germany. Instead of that, though, we see Germany refusing to help under _any_ circumstances, _and_ what evidence we have suggests that German companies (with the assistance, quite possibly of the German government) were the most active ones in the world in helping to violate the sanctions. How is that going to affect things, too? Gautam __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Mail Plus - Powerful. Affordable.
