Religion is extremist by nature.

No, it's not.

What makes you think that?

Because it's not.

And what makes you think that it's not?

Just because it's not.

One of us is missing the point, and it isn't me :)

What makes you think it isn't?

Arrrgh!

For those of us with ***limited mailbox space***, would you ***please*** take this offlist? You've both now spent what, 10 (?) posts giving us an incredibly irritating conversational equivalent of an infinite loop.

Ronn, you're NOT going to change his mind. If, as I suspect, you're merely attempting to annoy him you've definitely succeeded in annoying somebody, but it ain't him. (Guess who?!)

William, you ARE intolerant. Here's why: intolerance is defined as: "unwilling to grant equal freedom of expression especially in religious matters." (m-w.com) Until you prove that you don't have a problem with people speaking their minds about the positive aspects of their religions without attacking them for what they believe you'll likely remain tagged as an intolerant.

*sigh*

Thank you.
Jon

My apologies if anyone thinks I'm overreacting.

How do I shut off this frickin' Eliza program? ;-)

My apologies to all those who found this annoying.

Apology accepted. Hope I didn't sound too... cranky. If I did, I apologize.

Amusingly enough, two people thanked me offlist for complaining. Heh.

My point -- yes, I really had a point in starting this -- is that every such discussion I have participated in or witnessed from the sidelines has rapidly degenerated into the equivalent of

"Yes, it is."
"No, it isn't."
"Yes, it is!"
"No, it isn't!"
"Yes, it is!!"
"No, it isn't!!"
"YES, IT IS!!!"
"NO, IT ISN'T!!!"

I kinda sorta got that. I was just in a bad mood last night, and opening repeated non-substantive e-mails didn't help my attitude. To add insult to injury, some guy in the Netherlands keeps copying me on a terribly boring bandwidth-wasting conversation about a topic I have zero interest in, despite my ever-so-polite request that he not do so.

My killfile works pretty well though. I like that.

so I thought for once we could just skip the preliminaries and get right to that part. :-)

You watched too much Monty Python as a child, didn't you. Admit it!!!! :-) (it's ok. So did I. And Blackadder and Fawlty Towers and...)

We now return you to your regularly scheduled list for substantive discussion on the issues of the day.

OK. Right. What would those be?

Here's one: did you know that all the urinals in Pennsylvania Station say "American Standard" on them? :-D

(Even religion, if anyone wishes.)

Nooo!!!!! :-)

Thanks,
Jon
