For photos: I don't know how blogspot works, but on LiveJournal you need to link to the images in html at an online site, which means you'd have to upload them to a photo hosting site at, say, photos.yahoo.com and then link to the image. I haven't needed to do this in the three weeks since I've been blogging, but I know the basic process.
I have a small list of photo-hosting sites at home and will post them later tonight. Some are free, some not, iirc.
