I think the book you are referring to is "Rainbow Six" which I reather
enjoyed.

My least favorite Clancy before this one was "Cardinal of the Kremlin."

Now that's funny, 'cause my favorite is "Cardinal of the Kremlin" (probably because I am a fan of espionage novels,) When I cleaned out my bookshelves, the only Clancy books I kept were "The Hunt for Red October", "Red Storm Rising", and "Cardinal of the Kremlin." Clancy is in serious need of an editor, and he has to come up with some new ideas.
