I agree with you so far.
At that point, one determines the point where there are an equal number of seconds in the life before and after that point, and that is the mean of life.
I have to partially disagree here. If life, indeed, begins at 40, then you have to
subtract 1,262,304,000 seconds (give or take a few) from the beginning, and
then find the mid-point of the remainder.
