There is your counterargument to robotic exploration.
It took a week to roll just a few feet, it works for a few days, and
then <Glitch>.

Hopefully its a problem that can be fixed. Perhaps as a result of
those Australian thunderstorms that were screwing up communications.
But I think this shows yet another limitation to robotic missions.

Of course this doesn't refute the arguments against manned missions,
but it does show that the alternative is itself quite problematic.
