<snip>

I could taste chocolate and stomach acid in my mouth and figure that
maybe my body was trying to keep me from inhaling the contents of my
stomach.
Or it could be some sort of acid reflux.

Then again, I might be suffering from some form of sleep apnea, in
which case I need to make an appointment.

I've never had anything like this happen before.

Just trying to lighten the mood. Glad you are okay.

I've never had trouble breathing, but it does read like acid reflux. You didn't say how you were sleeping in the LR, or if you do it normally. A strong recommendation for curing or mitigating AR is sleeping with head elevated; so if you were in a recliner it's less likely, on a couch with small pillow, more likely.

I won't say more. Just talk to a DR. (Can you bug doctors and nurses, get free advice working in a hospital?)
