Really? The antiwar crowd that marched outside my
office said, variously (judging by their signs, which
appear to have been fairly typical judging by what
I've seen of other protests):

The Iraq war was a Jewish plot designed to secure
Israel
That it would cause hundreds of thousands of civilian
deaths in Iraq
That Saddam would use WMDs on our troops
That the US was fighting to control Iraqi oil

You guys were right about all of that? Really?
That's pretty astonishing.

Incidentally, you also asked if I'm a Straussian (or,
I believe, a neo-con). When the left uses Straussian
they appear to mean conservative, and when they ask
"neo-con" they usually seem to mean Jewish
conservative. So, umm, I'm not a Straussian, although
I did study with Harvey Mansfield and think he's the
finest political philospher I've ever met or ever will
meet. And I'm not a neo-con because I have, of
course, always been a conservative. What exactly is
it that you think about Strauss that suggests that
being a Straussian is anything but a praiseworthy
thing, btw? Or, for that matter, a neo-con? I do
have some criticisms of the neo-cons - having switched
from the Left to the Right their policy positions have
improved but they still betray quite a few hints of
their old truly astonishingly bad ideas.
