Since Frostbreaker
ten days ago, some of you have been kind enough to ask after my father. The sad
news is that he passed away last night, quietly and simply in his own bed,
surrounded by his four sons. He had bounced back after the
stroke, regaining all his faculties and sparkle. He even spent three hectic
days teasing his sister (as usual) who came to stay last week. However, the
pneumonia which he contracted after the stroke was quietly catching up on him.
He always referred to pneumonia as 'Old Man's Friend' and clearly understood
where he was going. He suffered another small stroke on Thursday which, together
with the pneumonia, allowed him to finish his journey to my mother's side
in heaven.
He was delighted, as
ever, hosting the golf - he and my mother so enjoyed having you all
here and were always so impressed at how you all respected the farm. You
all earned a place in their hearts.
For those who want
to say goodbye, there will be a memorial service at Beaminster church on
Tuesday, March 5th at 2.30pm. Their ashes will be scattered on the
Knoll.
