in case anyone is interested, I 'found' this on rec.sport.disc:
From: Jim Biancolo <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: New Ultimate Playbook Software Date: 18 August 2003 16:32 Howdy folks, If anyone is interested, I built a program for animating and sharing Ultimate plays and drills. There's more info here: http://www.biancolo.com/UltimatePlaybook/index.html It was originally just for my own team, but I've put some more work into it to try and make it release-worthy. It's still a work-in-progress, but I've been using it under Windows 2000 with no trouble, and a teammate of mine got it working in Mac OSX and Linux. But it really hasn't been tested extensively, so your mileage may vary. If you do decide to install it, definitely read README.txt (included in the download) first. You do have to join the Yahoo! group to download the software, but you can set your preferences to not get any mail from the group if you want. If somebody wants to donate some hosting space and bandwidth, I'd be happy to move the download files elsewhere. Thanks! Jim From: Jim Biancolo <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: Re: New Ultimate Playbook Software Date: 19 August 2003 02:13 A few folks have informed me that Yahoo! is not letting them download because the daily bandwidth limit has been exceeded. I don't know what I expected from a free service. Anyway, undaunted, I'm trying another free service to see if it behaves differently. If you can't get the files from the Yahoo! Group, you can try to get them here: http://www.geocities.com/frogsmock/ (that site is just the downloads - no instructions or discussion) Someone also mentioned that when the playbook runs it is too big for their screen, and that it's not resizable. This will probably be a common complaint for folks on smaller monitors or running at 800 x 600 resolution. For version 1.0 I couldn't make the field resizable*, and I couldn't bear to make the field smaller than it already is at higher resolutions. Jim * The reason I couldn't make it resizable is because of sharing plays. If one player makes a play on a big field, saves it, and then sends it to a teammate who runs it on a small field, the players will run right off the field, and possibly off the screen. It's possible to deal with this, but it makes the animation much more complicated, as I have to accommodate scaling distances and stuff. If there's enough interest in the program in general maybe this will make it into 2.0.
