Well I say it is the first day, their has been one game, a thrilling encośnter between hosts Finland and (as the PA announced them) the boyz from downunder. Always close the lead switched on more than a couple of occasions but a good run of points from Australia proved too much for Finland, despite a last minute recovery that had the home crowd on the edge of their seats.
This had been preceeded by a opening ceremony and procession, that after threatening to be washed out by one of many enormous downpours that had frequented the days proceedings. The Girls of the Finnish Gymnastic Association stole the show though with a great performance both on the parade and at the stadium.
Hopefully more soon, on the more quirky nature of Worlds.
