Hi Britdisc,

I posted an email a couple of weeks ago looking for help from students and ex students with regard to finding possible locations for setting up new disc golf courses at unis, colleges and schools.

Thank you to everyone who responded, we have some excellent leads to follow up.

These include:

Nottingham University
Loughborough University
University of East Anglia
Reading University
Lancaster University
Sussex university
Adams' Grammar School in Newport, Shropshire
2 secondary schools in Malvern
Wymondham College, Norfolk

If anyone has any more suggestions, please email them to me. ([EMAIL PROTECTED])

There is a free prize draw running for anyone who submits a possible new course location. The winner will receive a UPA Players Bag or a disc golf bag. The closing date for the prize draw is Halloween, 31st October.

For more details of this disc golf development project, see original email below or email/call the Discology office.

Thank you.

13th October

Hi there,

I am looking for some help.

My disc sports company, Discology, is undertaking a project to introduce more disc golf courses to universities/colleges/schools around the UK.

We hope that this project will lead to major developments in the growth of UK disc golf and to greater awareness of disc sports in general.

Already there are courses installed at three campus universities - Essex Uni, Uni Of West England and St Andrews. There are also two courses set up at schools in Harrogate and Aylesbury.

We appreciate that not all educational establishments have the campus space to accommodate a disc golf course; to save time we want to find out about that do have the space and invite their interest.

With this scenario in mind, we are looking for feedback from students past and present.

Maybe you can help - if anyone on this egroup is aware of any educational establishments that have potential to accommodate a 9-hole or 18-hole disc golf course, we'd like to hear from you.

If you would like to help, please forward to me the name of the university/college/school and it's location.
If you happen to know the contact for the Sport Department as well, that would be even more helpful.
Any additional information will be gratefully received.

Locations For Disc Golf
Here is a basic overview of factors that contribute to a suitable location for a disc golf course:
1. Tended parkland, grassland, wooded areas, undulating terrain.
2. A course benefits from natural hazards such as trees/shrubs/lakes.
3. Anything above 10 acres has potential.
4. Point of contact - somewhere for players to hire out or purchase golf discs e.g. Sports centre

To thank anyone who volunteers information we will be running a prize draw(1) and reward scheme(2).

1. PRIZE DRAW - Anyone who sends us information about an educational establishment that has potential to accommodate a disc golf course will be entered into a random draw to win a UPA Ultimate players bag or a Gateway Disc Golf bag. The deadline for the draw is Oct 31st 2004 and the winner will be contacted by email.
To view the Ultimate bag, visit http://www.discology.co.uk/shop/showdiscs.asp?disc_id=251
To view the Disc Golf bag. visit http://www.discology.co.uk/shop/showdiscs.asp?disc_id=115

2. REWARD SCHEME - For any leads that result in a disc golf course being installed, we will present the Ultimate Club or person who submitted the lead with £100 worth of discs - for golf or ultimate. If there is a situation where more than one person submits the same lead, we will randomly select the winner from the nominees.

Please email your suggestions by replying to this email or email [EMAIL PROTECTED]

If you'd prefer to discuss any opportunities over the phone, please call me.

Thank you for your time.
