Proviso: yes, I spend my entire day at a computer and strongly object to
unnecessary emails. I'd have thought the one I'm about to write
constituted such an unnecessary email if the ignorance displayed in
Laura's email didn't reassure me.
There's probably no mailing list in the world where you have to email
the distribution list to unsubscribe. BritDisc is generously maintained
by a guy who really knows what he's doing, and so there's even a nice
friendly web interface to do all your admin. This web interface,
conveniently, is linked to at the end of every BD email just in case you
forget. I hope, and assume, that Laura has since received several
emails from the list bot prompted by people like myself putting her
email address into said web interface. If only she'd considered putting
in the effort to do this herself, she'd have been unsubscribed quicker,
wouldn't have received multiple confirmation emails, and would have
saved me this arguably vain attempt at education. Everyone, please:
it's fundamental netiquette, and I don't think it's too much to ask.
Requests to unsubscribe are getting rarer, but like turnovers in a high
quality offence, we should really get them down to zero.
Apologies if this comes over purely as aggro, I just can't remember how
many times I've tried to disseminate this message...
