Without wanting to tread on Paul's toes, the first London Summer League of the modern era was in 1999. There were 6 teams. Winners were pick-up team Strawberry Jam, while Spirit was shared between Spin on This and Disco Volante (both Albatross/Angels combo teams). I believe the others were Playthings, G-Spots and some basketball team that didn't fulfil their fixtures. Most half-decent teams (Bullfrogs, First Touch) chose to forego the attractions. So, Paul deserves great credit for making sure it keeps getting bigger and stronger (and more stressful to organise).
