US team win flying disc final against Australia

Fairness enjoys priority in flying disc. Only seconds after the winning point
it was clear that it counted.

The decision was not made by a referee, but by the players of the two finalist
teams. Fair geht vor im Flying Disc. Thus the USA won the flying disc event at
the 2005 World Games in Duisburg 13-11 against Australia. The bronze medal went
to Canada by defeating Japan 15-14. The German team finished in fifth place.
Both finalists played with a tactics of long passes, good to watch for the
numerous fans. The sore was equal most of the time. After a turn over the USA
only needed one more point for the victory at 12-10, but instead Australia made
the point for 12-11. The US team then scored narrowly behind the line thus
gaining the winning point.
„All teams competing in the World Games belong to the top ten on the world
rankings. Even the qualifying was tough”, said Juha Jahovaara, President of the
World Flying Disc Federation (WFDF). „The players also agree: this event was
excellently organised.“
