Hey, I guess this might seem kind of trivial, but why introduce rules if you're not going to enforce them? And what else is BD for if not for moaning about trivial issues? ;)
I noticed at a couple of the Mixed Tours and at Mixed Nationals that not all teams were adhering to the "matching kit" rules that were introduced this year. The rules state: "All teams entering the Tour will be required to provide all team members with matching shirts. ... Teams are also required to provide shorts matching in colour and preferably design." Some teams had two or three players not wearing team kit - and in some cases they had players wearing neither a team shirt or matching coloured shorts. The teams I noticed were not especially newly formed from what I can recall, so I would think that at the very least by the time Mixed Nationals comes around they should be able to provide their players with the right kit (by borrowing from non-attending players, for example). From what I recall, plenty of warning about the new kit rules was given, and our team (and, I imagine, many others) went to a lot of time and effort to find sponsorship and design and order new kit for the whole team this year. And I won't even start on how many "remember to bring black shorts!!!" emails went round our team mailing list pre-Mixed Tours... I have to admit that personally, I originally thought introducing the kit rules was a little over the top; however I can definitely understand why it was done and I now appreciate the effect it has had on improving the "image" of the sport ( i.e. it looks more like we're "a proper sport" if everyone has the right kit). However, I havn't heard anything about teams being penalised (in whatever manner the penalty is for not having the right kit) on BritDisc or elsewhere. Are the kit rules actually being enforced? Will they be at the Open Tours? Does anyone other than me care? Has anyone read this email all the way to the end before deleting it? I await the answers to these questions with baited breath (because I'm at work and really bored). Cheers, Rolls Brighton Ultimate #42 My opinions may or may not be those of my team (I haven't asked them so I don't know). __________________________________________________ BritDisc mailing list [email protected] http://mailman.ranulf.net/mailman/listinfo/britdisc Staying informed - http://www.ukultimate.com/informed.asp
