I said just an hour ago I wasn't going to wade into this, however here's my tuppence

The water situation was terrible. Ed's put his hands up on this one, it's a shame it didn't happen as we'd have wanted.

The seeding situation was disappointing to say the least. People have already put it much more eloquently than I ever could, but a lot of strong teams were always going to be mis-seeded - through noone's fault, it's near-impossible to predict where people will finish - and (in my opinion) cross-overs should have been a priority. It's very interesting though to see that previous Britdisc flaming sessions have influenced the decision making process so heavily - if Hannah saw the 'value for money' discussion as the over-riding concern then she's been following the will of the people.

(The schedule was written to provide 90 minute games, which is something the vocal group demanded - some people may need to re-examine what they've written over the last couple of days and check that it won't rebound later on!)

Demanding the the DoC write 3 or 4 different schedules for each of the 3 divisions being played each weekend is franky laughable. Back to the oldest of retorts - try it and then complain. I'd prefer to see a situation where the number of teams is decided shortly after the payment deadline - if you drop out after entering your team then you have let down the other teams, the DoC hasn't done anything wrong. If they happen to have the time/effort to do it then they should face three days of grovelling thanks from the people who've benefitted from an improved weekend. Not abuse.

One last comment, the quality of play and spirit over the weekend was a pleasure to enjoy. The intensity of some of the games made me worry that people might get cranky over some of the calls, but it turns out I had fallen into the trap of assuming that many Btour teams are there for 'fun' and don't want to play hard. We played two games where every point was desperately wanted by both teams and calls were dealt with in a positive way. The strength in depth that we've developed in the UK is something we should all be proud of, and with the army that Kev's building in Chester we should be able to look forward to that getting better and better.

My views, not that etc etc...

Andy
