t reads to me as if the person pulling off the greatest is never technically
the thrower because they must have a point of contact to be in possession. So,
if there's a contested foul on the next catch it should go back to the one who
made the original throw.

This would also mean that should somebody call a pick after the first throw,
but before the greatest (or while the person pulling off the greatest has hold
of it), it should be a continuation to the catch after the greatest, because it
was after the last person deemed a thrower released the disc (ridiculously
unlikely, but I thought it'd be worth mentioning!).

Or am I being really stupid? It just seems to me that until you have a point of
contact, you're not actually in possession. It may as well just be a very
clever MAC.

(P.S. Sorry for you getting this twice Benji - mucked up sending it the first
time...)

rules are worded this way to
allow the greatest - you're technically in-bounds until you land out,
so you can have possession in the air as long as you get rid of it
before you touch out-of-bounds.

On the other hand, what happens if a contested foul is called when
the greatest is being caught/dropped? Where do you send the disc back
to? According to these rules, the 'greatest' player actually had
possession, so they must get the disc back, but where?

Rules are very heaven for a pedant.
