Thanks to Steve G for the nice comment. Thanks to all the people that bid for UKUA events - which incidentally was less than the number of tournaments.
As its my job to make sure communication goes well, apologies for 1. Delayed member update 2. Delayed update to Tour rules 3. Lack of minutes from the conference - including some explanation on the thinking behind who should play at Tour 0 4. Delayed election (please go here for more info and to vote: http://www.ukultimate.com/about_the_ukua/election_2007) All will be forthcoming as soon as possible. Member Update should be out before the end of the day. On the idea of the UKUA running tournaments - we are trying it out in 2007. My experience is that venues are tough to find and so far the cost of fields is generally higher than Steve G's experiences. This seems like an opportune moment to bring forwards an idea that I was expecting to start talking about later in the year: If you have a venue that you know or think is good enough to run a tournament - UKUA event or not - please feel free to let me know. The UKUA (well, me with some advice from Hannah I expect) will be happy to investigate and use the venue, or enter into some sort of partnership with you to run an event. You'll get some money, and the UKUA will get some money. Whether the tournament is cheaper or not will I suspect come down to the cost of the fields more than anything else. On the coaching in schools we've been making progress there too - I'll get some updated information to the website. I don't agree with doing these things for free though. These things need to be able to support themselves otherwise they are doomed to fail.
