J,

Do you know what you are talking about?

"Membership to the UKUA must have (at least) doubled in size over the past
two or three years"

It "MUST HAVE", is that because otherwise you lack an argument? Why must it
have doubled? Have you seen the figures, were you at the conference the past
two years, did you read the minutes?

Why would an increase in members lead to an increase in bids to host
tournaments anyway? Even without making up figures, your logic is flawed.
The biggest problem with running the UKUA calender continues to be the lack
of viable bids, which is a situation that the UKUA continues to address.

As for MT3, the venue hasn't been changed, any information that went out (
e.g. on the website) always stated that York was a provisional venue or was
"TBC". I'm sorry that teams may have lost out on train fares because they
didn't notice this, but….

Most people see the whole Mixed Season as being one entity, three Tour
events finishing off with Nationals, the Mixed Tour being qualification for
Nationals, so it doesn't make any sense to have Nationals before the Tour
has been decided. That's not to say that we don't welcome pick up teams who
only want to play a few events (like IF), but we specifically cater for the
majority of teams.

DJ if you're not capable of playing 5 weekends of Ultimate in a row, may I
suggest spending less time in the gym getting buff.

PS I know others have responded to some of these points, so feel free to
ignore my interpretation.
PPS This is my email address if you want to winge/provide feedback. Poorly
thought out arguments will be treated with the contempt they deserve.

I'm surprised there hasnt been more debate about this to be honest. I
understand there were serious problems with the venue for tour2 and based on
Hanna's email I dont think anyone would claim that every possible route had
not been tried.

But why the change of venue for this tour? Presumably York was booked for
tour 3 so why now the need to change it to Nottingham? And why do we hear
this from Steve G? Steve will undoubtably run a great tourney (as always)
but I would have thought the Mixed Tour co-ordinator or UKUA head Si Hill
would have sent out the email along with an explanation for why.

Someone has already mentioned the fact that this change of decision so
late in the day has ended up costing one team in particular a lot of money
in train fares and that because of this they are now faced with
non-returnable tickets for York and some players who can no longer afford to
travel to the tournament in Nottingham.

Membership to the UKUA must have (at least) doubled in size over the past
two or three years yet we dont seem to be utilising this increase in revenue
to properly organise the flagship events of the season i.e. the tours. As
it stands, we have potentially lost 25% of the mixed season (assuming we
can't find another venue and take the route Chef describes below) and the
change of venue has seriously impacted the costs involved to attend. I
appreciate the time people give up to run this sport in the UK but I dont
think even they would consider this to have been an especially succesful
summer so far.

I was under the impression that as MT2 was cancelled, MT3 is now MT2;
MNats is now MT3 and MNats will be run at a later date (yet to be
announced).

I aggree this is frustrating; but as Hannah said she did everything
possible to secure an alternative venue.
