Sorry for the delay in sending this out. Back in December, 6 teams gathered
in Malpas, South Cheshire to compete in the 2007 junior women's indoor
championships. Round robin format threw up some interesting games as
reigning champions Catch Those drew their opening game with local team
Ocelots with a somewhat heated discussion about whether the game winning
point had been thrown before the final whistle had started to sound.
Thundercatch were the in form team beating every team in the round robin
while Great Balls narrowly lost their showdown game with Catch Those to see
who would make the final.

In a very tense and close final with many layout Ds from girls on both
teams, Thunderbirds emerged triumphant to take the 2007 title. Well done to
everyone that attended. Second year we have run this and the standard was so
much higher this time. Bodes well for GB Junior women in Vancouver. And
cheers to James and Gemma for being there to support the girls - always good
when the national team coach and manager take a real interest in the junior
tournaments.

1st Thunderbirds (Gosport)
2nd Catch Those (Wirral)
3rd Great Balls of Fire (GBJW pickup)
4th Ocelots (Malpas, Cheshire)
5th Artic (Sutton Coldfield)
6th Catch Those 2 (Wirral)

Artic won spirit.

On the same weekend, 14 junior teams played in a one day development
tournament. Great to see new schools competing like Grange School in
Hartford, Cheshire and Caldey Grammar from West Kirby, Wirral. Another very
close final where it was hard to spot the beginners at times.

1st Artic 4 (Sutton Coldfield)
2nd Catch Those 1 (Wirral)
3rd Hodgehegs (Cheshire)
4th Aviators (Nottingham)
5th Caldey 1 (Wirral)
6th Artic 3 (Sutton Coldfield)
7th Ocelots 1 (Malpas, Cheshire)
8th Catch Those 2 (Wirral)
9th Artic 1 (Sutton Coldfield)
10th Ocelots 2 (Malpas, Cheshire)
11th Artic 2 (Sutton Coldfield)
12th Caldey 2 (Wirral)
13th Grove (Birkenhead/Malpas)
14th Gruft (Grange School, Hartford, Cheshire)

No trophies for winning development tournaments but there were trophies for
Spirit (Ocelots 1, narrowly beating Catch Those 2), MVP (Anthony Smith from
Artic 4 narrowly beating Alex Walsh from Caldey 2 and Steve Lovatt from
Hodgehegs) and Most Improved Team (Caldey 2 narrowly edging Gruft).
